How to Ensure FlashAcademy Is Set Up and Accessible in School
Prerequisites
FlashAcademy requires an active internet connection.
Android: Android 7 (Nougat) or later with at least 2GB RAM (available on Google Play Store).
iOS: iOS 13 or later with at least 2GB RAM (available on the Apple App Store).
Domain Whitelisting
To prevent access issues caused by school firewalls, ensure the following domain is whitelisted:
*.flashacademy.com
Use our Network Access Checker to confirm FlashAcademy is accessible on your network.
If you are using an internet filter such as Securly, please ensure the above URL is in the global allow list.
Windows Computers
FlashAcademy is available through a browser at web.flashacademy.com (or edu.flashacademy.com for staff).
Supported browsers (Windows 7 SP1 or newer):
Chrome 57+
Firefox 52+
Edge 85+
Note: Internet Explorer is not supported.
Apple Mac Computers
FlashAcademy is accessible via browser on macOS (OS X Yosemite 10.10+).
Supported browsers:
Chrome 57+
Firefox 52+
Edge 85+
Note: Safari is not fully compatible; we do not recommend using it with the Web App.
Google Chromebooks
FlashAcademy works on Chromebooks with at least 2GB RAM using Chrome version 57+.
Install Test
Follow these steps to confirm FlashAcademy functions correctly on your school network:
Install the FlashAcademy app on a student device.
Connect to the same Wi-Fi network students will use.
Open the app and select Log In.
Choose School or Workplace, then enter your main admin login details (from your Welcome Email).
Continue until you reach the Languages page.
Choose any Full Course option.
After it downloads, select the first category.
Open the first lesson and click Start Lesson.
When the flashcard appears, flip it using the button in the top-right.
Use the video and audio buttons below the flashcard to ensure both playback functions work.
If all steps complete successfully, your setup is configured correctly.

Permissions can be managed individually on each device or via your MDM platform (e.g., Meraki).
Troubleshooting
Whitelisting
Ensure all required domains are whitelisted to prevent access issues.
Device Setup
Confirm all device permissions are enabled.
Keep devices and the FlashAcademy app updated.
Login Details & Password Resets
Pupil usernames: Teacher Dashboard > Students
Passwords are not visible but can be reset from the same area.
Microphone Access Troubleshooting
Before adjusting browser settings:
Confirm the microphone is plugged in.
Ensure it isn’t physically muted.
Test it in another app to verify it works.
Check Device Settings
Windows:
Settings > Sound > Input → select microphone → test input level.
Mac:
System Preferences > Sound > Input → select microphone → check input meter.
Browser Permissions
Chrome:
Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Microphone
→ Allow FlashAcademy; remove blocked entries.
Edge:
Settings > Cookies & Site Permissions > Microphone
→ Ensure FlashAcademy is allowed.
Firefox:
Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Microphone
→ Adjust or remove site permissions.
Safari:
Preferences > Websites > Microphone
→ Set FlashAcademy to Allow.
